Venango County - SPK provided preliminary and final design engineering services for a 2.25 mile roadway realignment and widening project south of Titusville, PA. SPK developed a preliminary design which improved the horizontal and vertical alignment to meet current design speed criteria while minimizing cost and right-of-way impacts. The final design presented unique traffic control challenges of maintaining mainline traffic while constructing the roadway in half-widths. SPK completed a comprehensive right-of-way plan, utility coordination, integral abutment bridge design, drainage, E&S, stormwater, environmental permits and traffic control plan as part of the PS&E package. SPK worked closely with the District in coordinating public and emergency official involvement regarding the project schedule and access issues.

Design work consisted of sidewalk, curb ramp and driveway design and details, drainage adjustment, traffic signal upgrades, E&S measures and traffic control layout. Structure design work was done to accommodate two (2) retaining walls. Early comprehensive utility involvement was an integral part of ensuring the project design could be accommodated with minimal impacts.
